Before they left the builders did the basic clearing up in the garden required by the contract, but it was still a mess. In 2010 we decided that it would take us years to get the garden straight, so we hired some landscape gardeners to do the work. They started in September and expected to finish by the end of November. The weather decided otherwise, snow arrived in November and apart from a brief respite in mid December it stuck around until after Christmas. It was so bad that on the 19 December we had to be dug out by a passing farmer. Work resumed early January and was finally finished in mid January. This picture was taken at the beginning of February, just after the greenhouse had been erected.
