The next day was gloriously sunny, and there had been no more snow. We jumped in the car to get newspapers and set off along the track, only for the Land Rover to grind to a halt. Over night the wind had redistributed the snow and the piles of cleared snow each side of the track had sheltered the track from the wind, allowing the blown snow to settle on it. In places it was nearly two feet deep. We still had guests in the Holiday Let, so the track had to be cleared. We had spend a couple of hours working on clearing the snow when a local farmer took pity on us and cleared the track with his tractor. December 19, 2010 |
