We found both the lounge and the dining room to be slightly smaller than we needed, and with a new study built as part of the building work (the link room), the old study was somewhat redundant. The solution? We knocked down the wall between the old dining room and old study giving us a nice big through lounge. The old lounge was slightly bigger than the old dining room,  so we ended up with a bigger dining room as well. This picture shows the end of the new lounge that used to be the dining room. There is still a little bit of work to be done as we intend to have a slate windowsill and a false surround around the former fireplace that now houses the television.
