The bad weather resulted in a deep snow drift along the back of the house, even across the main entrance gates. When the thaw eventually came, the snow drift acted as a dam which eventually burst where the drift was smallest, namely at the entrance gates. Fortunately the lie of the land diverted the torrent away from the house and outbuilding but it cut a deep groove across the back and front yards January 13, 2010 |
